Avery Elle - June Challenge!!

Hey Everyone,

Yikes!

It's the last day of June (ALREADY!!!)  Tomorrow is Canada Day and I'm looking forward to some family time celebrating this great country's birthday!  146 Years!  Waaaahooooo, Canada!

I'm coming in under the wire for this next challenge (as seems to be the trend this month!)  The folks over at Avery Elle have their monthly AEI<3U Challenge!  This month the challenge is based on a sketch.  Check it out here!  The winner gets to be a guest designer for August!  AWESOME!!!

Here is my take on the sketch.  I used clear acetate as the front cover and affixed the tag to the acetate.  I die cut hexagons from patterned paper and attached to to the inside and atop the acetate to add dimension.  I used a mask to spray a hexagon pattern on the acetate.

Anyone for Anya Sketch Challenge!

Hey Blogworld!

I'm back!  C3 is down with a fever today.  Throwing up and a temp of 102F.  She's sleeping now (yay!) thanks to the children's Advil.  She's a non-stop chatterbox and seeing her being so quiet while she's not well, eyes glassed over just breaks my heart!  Feel better my sweetie pie!

I'm dropping by to share with you a quickie for the folks over at Anyone For Anya.  There is a sketch challenge over there that I'd like to share with you all!  This is the only CC Designs stamp I have.  I had to get it as it reminded me of my family.  4 girls and 1 guy.  I just couldn't pass it up!  I think this is the first time I've ever used it!

Chalkboard technique at Technique Time Tuesday!

Hey Everyone,

Summer has officially arrived in the form of school summer holidays!  This weekend is a long weekend in my neck of the woods and I'm looking forward to a week off with the whole family (and some added out of town guests!) this upcoming week!  Yay!

Coming in under the wire for this challenge but better late than never!  The technique for June over at Technique Time Tuesday is the Chalkboard Technique and you can check it out here!  What better a theme for this technique than school (or lack thereof...at least for a couple months)!  The report cards for my 2 bigger girlies were impressive (always room for improvement) but really...they did great.  This card is for them!  Great job C1 and C2!

Here is what my mind came up with.

Sentiment stamp is from See D's, the patterned paper is from Heidi Swapp and DCWV.  Ribbon is from Recollections.  Image Stamp from Hampton Arts/Graphc 45.

I coloured her dress using Derwent Watercoloured Pencils and a water brush.

Trigger Tuesday and Some Sunny Inspiration

Hey Everyone,

It's official...School is out for summer!  Woohooo!  (of course I say that now but we'll see how I feel after spending some 'quality time' with all three of my girlies this summer....hopefully I'll still be exclaiming the sentiment throughout the summer!  Wish me luck!)
The summer is off to a great start as all three of my girlies are having a sleepover at the grandparents tonight!  (Double WOOOHOOOO!!!)
Lately I find my scrapbooking photo inspiration coming from the digital frame that is in our family room.  It has a timer in it and it goes on and off a regular intervals and allows me to take a gander at photos of memories of yore.  I dare say it is in need of a refreshment of newer photos but I'm loving seeing all the older photos and remembering.  I'm not much of a chronological scrapbooker so I'm very content to dig up these memories and reliving them as I create a home for them amoung my scrapbook pages (*sigh*).
This next layout came from a couple of challenge blog inspirations and I think it came together nicely.  Memories of Central Park, NYC when my older girlies were little.  NYC has become an annual event since but these early trips are always a treasure!

Not sure where the paper is from.  The ledger stamp is from Autumn Leaves.  The 'perk' die cut letters are from Sizzix and the 'central' letters are from Quickutz.  

 Cooling off in the splash pad and gigantic giggles on the swings...bring on the summer and sunshine I say!  The flowered paper in this layout is from one of the first pads of paper I ever purchased (dare I say  a decade ago!).  The 'friends' ledger stamp is also at least 5 years old.  The die cut letters are also at least 5 years old as well.  Forgot all about the Quickutz font I had!  Love to be able to put all these to good use again!  I got the colour inspiration from this week's Trigger Tuesday: Scene in Tangerine over at Moxie Fab World.

PTI Blog Hop!!! It's Golden!!

Hey Everyone!

I'm back with a project inspired by the folks over at Paper Trey Ink.  They're having a blog hop today and the challenge this month is.... (*drum roll*)

Great challenge and what a cool trend these days!  Gold is totally in!  Love it!  Here is what I conjured up!

The gold dancers are Peel Offs that were coloured in using Glitter Ritz glitters.  The sentiment stamp is from PTI embossed with gold powder.

 I made this card with my hubby in mind as the sentiment is totally for him...but realistically, there's only so many lovey-dovey cards I can give him that I know won't either find its way back into my collection or lost to the male-sentimental gods (or lack there of!).  I know he'll appreciate it but I also know that he doesn't keep secret stash of cards I give to him in a shoebox tucked away for prosperity.
Soooooo...I decided to transform this card to a scrapbook layout as I KNOW these get cherished and looked at regularly and often get displayed in the house every now and then!  Here is the converted version:

I added patterned paper from DCWV and some trim from Recollections as well as some gold heart brads and pearls.  The flourish stamps are from PTI.

Thanks PTI for the challenge and inpiration.  I'm glad I got the chance to play along this month!  Can't wait to see what everyone else has in store!

Twisted Tuesday Challenge #52: Sailing the 7 Seas...

Hey Everyone!

Yay!  Another challenge to get those creative juices flowing over at Twisted Tuesday!  The DT have some wonderful inspiration to share with you all!
The theme this fortnight is "Sailing the 7 Seas..." (i.e. make a nautical themed project and the twist is use at least 7 embellies!)  Cool!  Time to dive into your stash and play!  Check us out over at Twisted Tuesday Challenges for all the deets and the fabulous prize to be won!
Here is my project.  I really hope to inspire you and please linky up your creation over at Twisted Tuesday once I have!  I can't wait to see what you create!

The patterned papers are from DCWV.  The striped ribbon is from Ikea.  The corrugated letters are from Jillibean Soup.  The anchor, stars and boat steering wheel are stickers from Recollections.  The knotted cord is from the Dollar Store.  The camera sticker is from KC Company.  The embossing folder is from Sizzix.

I embossed the compass on patterned paper the same as the background.  Cut off the excess (it actually tore off accidentally but then worked out as intended in the end...YAY!) and adhered it to the background.
The (at least) 7 embellishes (aside from the patterned paper and the photos) are as follows:
1) anchor sticker
2) boat steering wheel
3) knotted chord
4) red stars (x3)
5) striped ribbon
6) camera sticker
7) patterned paper cut into banners/flags
8) tall ship stamp and globe stamp
9) scalloped border trim
10) embossed compass (background)
11) corrugated letters and letter stickers

Going (More) Places!

Hey Everyone!

Just a quick layout to share with you all.  I originally created this layout as inspired by the last Simon Says Stamp Challenge: Transport - to coincide with the layout I made for my other daughter, C2.  But alas, time has forsaken me and I missed the deadline to post this for the goodies but at least it's done and ready for memory lane perusal!  Love it!
I used a lot of older stuff for this layout as well.  I really need to consume all these consumables before I become buried....and how else am I supposed to justify new stuff, eh?

So here is my other transport layout of daughter C1 and her first time on an airplane!

A whole lot of old stuff here that I don't really know where from.  I believe the globe and plane stamps are from Hampton Arts and the word stickers are from KC company.  The distance scale stamp is from Technique Tuesday and the tag is from MME (I think).

It's hard to believe that this little less-than-1-year-old (in these photos) just turned 9 years old last weekend!  (*sigh*).  Time sure flies!
