Twisted Tuesday Challenge #76 - Rose for my Sweetie

Hello Blog world!

A wonderful Mother's day was had here in my neck of the woods!  I got breakfast in bed, a chance to go for a run, an hour (or so) to listen to my audiobook while I stretched and did some yoga and had a yummy yoghurt parfait with strawberries and dark chocolate chips eaten on the back porch swing in the sunshine.  Hubby and the kids hung out in the backyard and took care of some gardening with the grandparents.

I hope those of you who celebrated Mother's Day this past weekend had a special day as well!

On the creative front, another challenge is up and running over at Twisted Tuesday Challenges: Challenge #76

Challenge: Use a rose on your creation
Twist: Use a sweetheart theme (Make a creation with your Sweetheart in mind: Spouse, adorable, child/grandchild, etc)

Here is what my grey matter concocted:
patterned paper: K&Company; date card: 7 Gypsies; plastic tags: Making Memories; rose dies: Sizzix; letter dies: Quickutz; chipboard letters: unknown

This layout was based on a sketch from Page Maps: June 2013

I also based it on the colour scheme over at Color Me Scrappy:

When I took this picture of C3 and her Nonna a couple weeks ago I was taken aback by how beautiful my Mama (in-law) looked (moreso than usual of course).  Love it!  I couldn't wait to scrapbook this photo and this challenge was just right for it (since the "rose" part of this challenge also comes in Nonna's name).  My girls are so very blessed to have such AMAZING grandparents (on both sides!!) who would do anything for them and who love my girls to the moon and back (a hundred times over!).

I hope I have inspired you to take on this challenge!  I look forward to seeing your creations!

I'd like to submit this to the following challenges:
Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: M (for mother)
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Spring Flowers
Scrap it Girl: Mothers or Mother Nature
Colour Me Scrappy: DT Challenge (N=Nonna, E=inked Edges, W=washi tape)

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Spring Flowers...WHERE ARE YOU?!?!

Hey Everyone,

I'm done.  SOOOO DONE!  Can't stand this cold anymore!  The buds are on the trees and the greenery is trying to peek through the ground but it's oh so cold I don't blame the foliage for being hesitant on emerging!  I've dealt with colds after strep throat after tummy flu after pink eye after fevers for the last 3 weeks between myself and the kidlets and I just want the warmth to come already!  Maybe this birthday card for my mom will spark some sunny, warmer weather!  PLEASE!

The background stamp is from Hero Arts, The die cut leaves are from Cheery Lynn Designs, the paper is from WeRMemory Keepers, sentiment from Simon Says Stamp.

I based this off of Hero Arts Sketch#3

I would like to submit this to the following challenges:
Hero Arts: May Sketch Challenge
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Spring Flowers
Sister Act Anything Goes Card Challenge: #55

Thanks for stopping by....and if you live in a place where it's warm...please send some warm vibes this way!

Twisted Tuesday Challenge#75 - It's all Black and White (mostly)

Hey Everyone,

It's been an interesting last few days over in my neck of the woods.  That tummy virus that has apparently been going around finally caught up to me this past weekend...and it decided to rear its ugly head at my volleyball banquet on Friday night, mid-conversation with some fellow team members, totally out of nowhere....BOOM!  My stomach drops and I'm suddenly tasting that bile taste in my mouth.  Major sprint to the washroom where the first of at least 5 violent stomach purges occurred.  Hubby took me home where the next episodes occurred throughout the night until about 4am!  AWEFUL!  I was in bed for pretty much ALL of Saturday and Sunday morning.  My hubby's grandparents had the kidlets from Friday night to Sunday afternoon.  Not exactly my idea of a weekend without kids!  BOOOOO!  I guess on the the upside, however, hubby and I later found out that we won 2 of the door prizes awarded on Friday night. (YAAAY!).

Anyhoo...on a crafty note...a new challenge is up and running over at Twisted Tuesday Challenges.
Here's the deets:
The Challenge: Make your creation Using only Black and White
The Twist: Use ONE other colour in your creation (so Black and White and One more...tee hee!)

Here is my creation:
pattern paper: KCompany, Recollections; flowers: Prima; flourish die: MFT; pearl brad: Making Memories; Hugs die: Simon Says Stamp; newsprint stamp: Hero Arts

As full disclosure, this isn't the project I actually intended to create for this challenge.  I started a scrapbook layout and then I got hit with that tummy bug.  When I got well enough to create again my C2 was sooooo eager to help.  I had kind of lost my vision for my original layout and C2 had been bugging me to help her make a card for a while and I just haven't found the time to sit down with her to accommodate (not to mention the craft room is an absolute DISASTER right now!)  This time around in my still weakened condition I welcomed the help and this was partly her creation.  I decided on a design and she cut/diecut/glued/chose papers.  Not too shabby for a 7 year old!

Be sure to head on over to Twisted Tuesday Challenges and join in the creative fun!  There could be a GDT spot with your name on it!

Be sure to check out the other DT members creation for inspiration!

I'd also like to submit this to the following blogs:
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Clean and Simple
Sister Act Anything Goes Card Challenge: #54
Whimsy Stamps Inspirational Challenge: Anything Goes

I look forward to seeing your creations!

Twisted Tuesday Challenge #74 - Paperwork

Hey Blogworld,

It's Tuesday!...and it's time for another challenge over at Twisted Tuesday Challenges!  (*insert happy dance here!*)
This fortnight is a super fun one! (as they all are!)  I had a really great time just letting loose and letting my Sharpies take over.

The Challenge: Use more than 3 patterned papers on your creation.
The Twist: use doodling!!

I Love love love to doodle.  Many a notebook/binder/power point presentation handout has been graced with my pen creations.  I had a lot of fun with this one and it has motivated me to (hopefully) create many more in the future!  Here is my creation.

I background was originally nothing more than lined paper (WeRMemoryKeepers) with a black distressed border.  Star strip of paper -Jenni Bowlin; doodle markers: Sharpies, other patterned paper: Studio Calico;  Rosette: ski lift ticket

I hope you can join us in this fortnight's challenge and I can't wait to see what you create!

Thanks for stopping by!

123 Get Scrappy #9 New Board Up Running

Hey Everyone!

Happy dance day!  Another Bingo board up and running over at 123 Get Scrappy!  Let the creative-juice juicing begin!

While I admit, the warmer weather in my neck of the woods (only slightly warmer but at this point anything without snow is a welcome change!) makes it difficult to sit inside and craft but I'm sure this month's bingo board will help to motivate you!

Here's my take (and hopeful inspiration!)
camera die: Amy Tangerine; flowers: Prima; background stamps: Hero Arts; corrugated letters:  ; silver tags: dollar store; embossing folders: Sissix, Cuttlebug; other: glossy accents, scrapbook chalk,

Its difficult to tell but I smeared a small amount of glossy accents on my finger and gently rubbed it over the chalked areas to seal it and prevent it from smudging or wearing off.  There is a bit of a sheen to these areas.

Used glossy accents to enhance this paint splotch.

I used chalks to colour the stamped background areas.  I first stamped using Versamark ink and then with a cotton ball rubbed with chalk I coloured different areas.  The sticky ink grabs the chalk and the image pop.  Like magic.  Very cool!

Here's the board for your creating pleasure!  Please check out the other inspiration creations from the rest of the talented 123Get Scrappy design team!

I based this layout on sketch #112 over at Sketchabilities.

Thanks so much for dropping by!

Twisted Tuesday Challenge #73-Make Me Laugh Foolish Jester!

Hey Everyone!

Happy April Fools Day!  Today's a fun day in my neck of the woods.  A whole morning dedicated to playing pranks.

With that theme mind...there is a new challenge up and running over at Twisted Tuesday Challenges and here's my take:
image stamp: Stamping Bella, flowers: Prima; markers: Copic

I'm not sure where I got the sentiment from.  I found it online a while ago and saved it to my computer and happen to dig it up!  It's totally something my BFFs would say (and probably do if necessary!)
The Challenge: Use the photo for inspiration (I used the colour scheme of this jester inspiration photo)
The Twist: Add something funny on your project (funny pictures, funny sentiment etc...)

I used the sketch over at Cardabilities for my card.  I rotated it counterclockwise 90 degrees.

While I love a good prank...I'm not very good or creative with them...and it was far easier to have fun with it when I was in residence at university or had buddies to prank when I was working.  This morning it was just the kids and I and not much time for playing tricks. (WAHHHH!)  I did manage to put a funny FB status post that fooled at least a few of my FB friends.  Mission accomplished :P

I would also like to submit this to the following blogs:
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: ATG with Buttons
Sister Act Anything Goes Card Challenge: #50

Thanks for dropping by and be sure to head on over to Twisted Tuesday Challenges for all the details.  I can't wait to see your creations!
